The Midnight Masquerade (RP Party)

All outfits are to be posted in the "Dress Your Best" Thread to keep this thread clear of unnecessary posts. Please have your outfit posted before you join the RP.

Masks are to be worn upon entering and throughout the Masquerade. Masks can be removed once a certain number of posts have been posted. 

Reminder: OOC posting is (), [] or {}. Please do not post two messages one where your character is RP and the other is where you are in OOC. Post your message with your OOC before or after your character's actions and dialogue.

Setting:

A spacious ballroom with plenty of seating, a large buffet, and room for dancing at the center of the room. At the other end of the room, a staircase leads up to the balconies where people can have private conversations but still see others dancing, chatting, eating below.

[Loki]

Loki pulled at his mask as he walked into the slightly crowded ballroom. It sat uncomfortably on his face and despite the many figurative masks he had worn in the past, this one was literal and troubled him the most. He'd seen it lying on one of the tables by the entrance and picked it up. He thought it was very interesting how he would happen upon a mask that was split into two colors. One side was gold, the other blue. In between them, the mask shifted into a question mark. It was almost as if it displayed the internal conflict he was feeling inside: knowing he was from Jotunheim and yet raised as an Asgardian. It made him question himself. Who was he really?

[Roxanne Aldren]

Stepping into the ballroom with her hair pulled up in soft curls; Roxie pushed her mask into place before glancing around. She saw many people dancing around in masks dressed to impress. Roxie made her way over to a table that her name on a place card. Sitting down carefully she watched the couples dancing. Brushing off her long strapless red dress carefully she couldn't help feeling a bit out of place with no one she knew being there.

[Loki]

Loki walked around the edges of the room carefilly as he observed what everyone was doing. Several women had came up to him and asked for a dance to which he politely declined. He finally sat down at one of the tables, hoping that they would leave him alone if they saw that he was in conversation with someone. He looked over at the person he had sat next to. She was wearing a long straplesss red dress. "Nice evening, isn't it?"

[Roxanne Aldren]

Roxie narrowed her eyes when she heard the voice; it sounded familiar. "It's a bit chilly but I suppose it is rather nice." she told the man and gave him a friendly smile. Looking back out at the other party goers she then shifted her eyes back to the man beside of her.

[Loki]

Loki's brows furrowed beneath the mask. He had heard the voice before. He just couldn't place it, at least not yet. "Is it cold? I can't really tell. The cold doesn't really bother me much anyways." He said to the woman.

[Roxanne Aldren]

Roxie smiled. "It is a bit chilly but nothing unbearable" she told him as she tapped her fingers lightly on the table cloth. She was wondering when more people would begin to show up.

[Loki]

Loki sighed out of boredom and looked around the room again. There still was a decent size of people dancng in the middle of the room. He looked at the watch on his wrist. It was only a few minutes after midnight.

[Roxanne Aldren]

Looking over at the man again she noticed him looking at his watch. "Do you have the time?" she asked curiously.

[Loki]

Loki looked over to her as she spoke to him. He looked back at his watch briefly. "Yes, it's 12:05." He told her.

(You're forgiven.)

[Roxanne Aldren]

"It is getting late and people do not seem to be here yet." she commented. "I am not sure what is going on." Roxie told him as she wondered what could be keeping everyone.

[Loki]

"Perhaps, it is traffic." Loki suggested with a shrug. "My friends and I used to arrive late for most celebrations because then everyone would notice us more."

[Sif]

Sif entered in the ballroom and looked around. She was a bit embarrassed in that moment and the mask was a bit annoying. She saw the people dancing and walked around. Some time later she sat down too and continued to look around to find someone.

[Roxanne Aldren]

Seeing another woman walk in the door in a beautiful golden gown, Roxie smiled. It looked like more people were starting to show up.

[Loki]

Loki's gaze followed the woman in the golden gown for several minutes before he looked away. He rubbed the back of neck and fiddled with his mask again.

[Sif]

Sif noticed the man with a blue outfit and the woman in a red dress who looked at her. She stared at them and smiled.

[Thor Odinson]

Thor was still confused about this entire "masquerade ball" thing but ever since he heard Loki would be there, he decided to go. The suit was prickling on his skin, -specially that one he wore under his trousers- and he couldn't understand what was the point of feast were everyone was too shy to show their faces. Still, the same person that told him Loki would certainly be there told him the mask wouldn't cover his face entirely. He tied its black lacing in the back of his head, upon his golden hair and left Mjolnir in his temporary chambers whilst in Midgard. An hotel room, they said it was named. While walking, he loosened the silver tie around his neck, taking care enough not to ruin it and entered the golden ballroom. It sort of reminded him of the palace and he looked around the partially covered faces, the musicians in one corner and tables full of fine food and drink, the latter making his mouth water. Find Loki first, eat and drink later.

[Loki]

Loki smiled back at the woman in the golden dress before turning to the woman in the red dress beside him. He noticed her smile. "Do you know her?" He asked her before looking around the room. Another man had entered the celebration and Loki could swear there was something familiar about him but he didn't say anything.

[Roxanne Aldren]

Glancing to the woman in gold she shook her head. "No Sorry I cannot say I do." she told him. Turning her attention to the man who seemed out of sorts with his surroundings she noticed his blonde hair first along with his loosened tie. "What about him? Do you know who he is?" she asked the mystery man beside of her.

[Loki]

"I don't believe so." Loki said with a shake of his head. He looked back at the man who had recently entered. "Yet, he does seem familiar." Loki mused.

[Thor Odinson]

Thor looked around rather disturbed, seeing all those masked faces. He didn't know if they were all friendly in that feast and regretted leaving Mjolnir at his chambers in the hotel... Thor walked to the table and, as many people were doing, took a glass of some strange, pale and bubbly drink. It smelled pleasantly, so he emptied the glass in his hand and placed it back on the table. Smashing a chalice on the ground was impolite, as he was told, and now he learned the proper manners.

[Roxanne Aldren]

"Well only one way to find out I suppose" Roxie told him before standing and walking over to the food table. Standing beside of the much larger man she gratefully took a glass of champagne. Bringing the glass to her lips she smile. "Hello, you seemed a bit alone. Do you mind if I give you company?" she asked him with a soft warm smile.

[Thor Odinson]

Thor looked at the woman beside her with a surprised look. In Asgard, he used to be surrounded by maidens but their approaches were far less smooth and it caught him unprepared. "G-Good evening." He said smoothly, trying not to overcome the music with his voice and took her free hand, taking it to his lips in a short and polite kiss. "Your company would be rather pleasing, lady..." Thor trailed off and looked at her eyes, hoping she'd allow him to call her by the name.

[Loki]

Loki sighed as the woman stood up and left him alone at the table. He looked back at the woman in the golden dress. There was something about her that also seemed familiar to him. He shook his head and looked away from her.

[Roxanne Aldren]

Roxanne raised an eyebrow as he took her hand. Feeling him kiss it softly she smiled. "Roxanne, and who might you be?" she asked him as she pressed her glass to her red lips once again. She would have to admit that even though she couldn't see his face this man was rather charming. He was handsome from what she could tell; beard and all.
